Motoring

Our Motoring (and Road Traffic) team has a wealth of experience in representing clients on all types of road traffic offences. See the drop-down menu for some of the most common. The level of representation provided can be tailored to meet your specific requirements. Normally representation can include:
  1. An initial consultation, either at our offices or over the telephone. The consultation normally takes place at an early stage and we can run through the papers with you, take your instructions and provide you with advice. Feedback shows that clients find these consultations to be of great benefit, gaining the necessary guidance on how best to proceed.

  2. Ongoing case management and representation on an administrative basis. Examples of such representation include:

    • On a speeding case, it is apparent from the case papers that the officer used a speed camera device in a procedurally incorrect way. In this instance, we can write to the police / prosecution to argue that the case be discontinued. This can avoid the need for court proceedings.

    • On a no insurance case, a client wishes to enter a guilty plea. He wishes to try to keep the sentence he receives to a minimum. We can write to the court setting out our client's mitigation in full and asking for leniency in sentencing. On basic matters, this can be more cost-effective than instructing a representative to attend court.

  3. Representation at the police station level. It may be that you have been contacted by an officer who wants to have an 'informal chat' with you about an alleged offence. Such conversations can easily turn into an interview under caution and if so the information you give can be used in future court proceedings. It is important to put forward your case in the best possible way, whether you are admitting or denying the offence. Contact our motoring law team for advice before you go any further!

  4. Representation at court for entering a guilty plea or for contested hearings. E.g. trials, special reasons arguments or applications to remove a disqualification period. Representation can be either by one of this firm's solicitors, or one of our barristers. Please contact our motoring law team for further information in this respect.
We can also assist clients on more specific areas, such as addressing the specific needs of Newly Qualified Drivers and drivers with a foreign licence. Contact our motoring law team for further information.
