Fees and Retainers

Agreed Fixed Fee (AFF)

Our motoring lawyers operate on an Agreed Fixed Fee basis (AFF) for preparation and attendances in connection with any criminal case. Unlike most law firms, our law company prefer not to charge our clients by email or other unit. The fixed fee means that our clients do not have to worry about hourly rates and escalating costs. Our chairman, Andrew Parker, refers to this as:

"Short term pain for long term gain."

Our fixed fee covers all reasonable preparation for each stage, as deemed necessary by this company. It would not include any further work or attendances beyond the AFF. Each agreement is tailored specifically to the client's needs and signed off before work begins.

Options might include:

  1. Our proven ability to represent suspects/defendants/appelants anywhere in England and Wales. Andrew has even taken a case to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg (R v Shannon [2001] & Shannon v UK [2005]).
  2. Our experts: Road Incident Analysts and Toxicologists.
  3. We use our London Counsel (specialist barristers) for most court advocacy. As well as being very able they are selected for their interpersonal skills.
  4. Video conferencing, Skype and FaceTime call facilities available.
  5. Private meetings at various venues throughoutthe South East to suit our clients. Our Gatwick HQ.
  6. Advocacy and representation by our experienced lawyers. All police stations and courts.

Please note we choose not to conduct cases under the Legal Aid Scheme and therefore we will not be the cheapest option for defendants. We only operate on our unique Agreed Fixed Fee (AFF) basis, which greatly benefits new and existing clients.

Personal Defence Plan & Personal Defence Plan Plus

In Your Defence Ltd have developed the concept of Personal Defence Plan. This is an Agreed Fixed Fee (AFF) retainer that covers the important investigation stage. The AFF means that you do not have to worry about hourly rates and escalating costs. We were at the forefront in developing this more modern approach to the basis of the lawyer and client relationship.

Advancing and protecting your interests: Our motoring offences team are adept at liaising with investigating officers, making representations to the officers / CPS and checking on the progress of your case. For example, our lawyers may seek to vary your bail conditions. We are also very effective in ameliorating the situation for our clients, often colloquially referred to as "sorted."

We take pride in successfully obtaining the desired outcome. For instance, this might be where we make representations to the CPS on your behalf. Depends on the case, this might result in an end to the investigation and possible prosecution.

If you are due to attend for a police interview under caution, been arrested or have been released on bail, our private services might include:

Personal Defence Plan: includes all advice and assistance that we deem necessary over an agreed period. This retainer provides the necessary support for individuals under suspicion.

Personal Defence Plan plus: This crucial concept allows for our experienced representatives to attend a venue to defend the individual under investigation. This is where the suspect is to be interviewed under caution by the police or other authority (such as Trading Standards) venues might be the police stations or police custosy suite. Sometimes the taffic police officers wish to interview at your own address. We cannot stress enough how important it is to use our experienced and skilled representatives at this important stage.

Making the difference, In Your Defence.
